This week we did a lot of service! This was the last week before Transfers. Wednesday is Transfers!! I've already been here for 6 weeks!! Crazy stuff!!

We had a lot of meetings this week. With our district, zone, and the KWM office staff! I love being an office missionary. It's super fun! I love all of the senior missionaries! They are the greatest people ever!

Officially an Office Missionary

I've been studying Joseph Smith and the Liberty Jail. Joseph Smith suffered so much in his life. As humans, we ask the question "why do bad things happen to good people?" This was the case for Joseph Smith. 

Joseph asked, "Oh God, where art thou?" 

I think all of us ask this question multiple times in our lives. I certainly have. But I love what the Lord says back.

"My son, peace be unto thy soul; thine adversity and thine afflictions shall be but a small moment;

 And then, if thou endure it well, God shall exalt thee on high; thou shalt triumph over all thy foes"

 Bad things happen to us because we are meant to learn something from that specific experience. But it will be for a small moment and will be for our good. This is so true. Life is hard. Hard things happen, but if we turned to our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ, we will he able to endure it well and have peace with is always.

P.s. the title of the email happened while we were walking a neighborhood. A little girl was driving her Minnie mouse car around her driveway. Then she ran into her house and kept trying to drive. So all you see is the little girl trying to get the car to go forward through the wall. It was really funny!!

The one where the Prophet spoke to Kansas

 Hello everyone! I hope you all have had a great week! Here is a lowdown of my week.

Monday: We ran into the AP's and the social media missionaries at Walmart. It was kinda funny! I played a lot of games with my district. I have the best district ever!! I love them so much!! 

Tuesday: I finally got my driving card!! I can drive now!! Tiwi is not my friend. I do not like her but what missionary does. We were also under a tornado watch! The storm was insane and it was loud and a lot of lighting. Crazy stuff!!

Wednesday: We had a meeting with out district. Then later that day we had training from the AP's. It was a really good training. 

Thursday: We had some service with some of the ladies we were teaching. But we decided to drop them this week. They aren't interested in learning more but we are still serving them. 

Friday: Benton Day! We went to the little town of Benton to see some of our friends. My district leader asked me to see the two ladies they are teaching because the Elders had car problems and they weren't able to see them. They are the sweetest ladies ever!!! I love them!!! They are learning a lot from the Elders and they are definitely progressing which is good! 

Saturday: Andover has a festival called Greater Andover Days. 6 of us missionaries helped with the parade line up and it was super fun!! It was also freezing!! 

Sunday: The Prophet spoke to Kansas and Oklahoma! It was a really amazing experience. President Nelson talked a lot about the book of Mormon! What the purpose of it among other things. It was amazing. I loved it and it was a revelatory experience. 

The one where I ate "better than anything" cake

 Hello everyone! I hope you are all doing well and that you've had a great week! Here is a breakdown of my week.

Monday: I played some sand volleyball with my district in the morning. Then I played some basketball with the Elders in my zone. So fun! Then I got to talk with my dad for a while. I love him!

Tuesday: Knocked on a lot of doors and got some referrals! It was really hot that day! It's not cooling down in Kansas at all. 

Wednesday: We had a mini birthday party for my district leader's birthday. That's where the title of the email comes from. He made his own birthday cake and called it "The better than anything cake." I thought that was really funny. The cake was the best thing I've ever eaten in my life. And I've eaten plenty of good food in my life. 

Thursday: We went to a local charity and worked in their pantry. It was really fun! We volunteer there every now so we can help our community all that we can. Later that day, we found a new friend! She is super curious about the gospel and wants to learn more. I'm super excited to be able to help her learn and grow!

Friday: I was really sick on Friday so we didn't go out. We did lots of Facebook work. 

Saturday: We went to Benton to see some of our friends. Nobody would answer their doors. So that was really fun. 

Sunday: Met with a lot of members and had some meetings with the other missionaries and the ward leaders.

The one where the Green light was Blue

 Hello everyone! I hope you had an amazing week! This week flew by! I can't believe that it is October already! 

Monday: pday!! I was able to call my sister Sam and then I just was able to see my district and spend the day with them! I love my district with my whole heart! They are my best friends!!

Tuesday: We went to a little town in our area called Benton. It is a very old town and not many people live there. But we were able to find a new friend! We are teaching 2 of our friends out there! We helped out with a activity days activity with the young girls in our ward. We taught them how to make origami dresses. Super exciting!

Wednesday: It is missionary month in our ward! We gave gave MTC activity which was really fun! We had out own little rooms where the youth could could and learn from us missionaries. It was a lot of fun! 

Thursday: We went back to Benton and served a lady named Cathy! She is amazing. She makes her own jewelry and makes leather bags. She taught me how to sew one together. It was so much fun! I need to practice sewing. I'm not very good. 

Friday: Exchanges!!!! I love Sister Hull. She is my sister training leader. She is the example of a Missionary I want to be like. She helped me so much. I learned so much from her and from the exchange experience! 

Saturday: General Conference!!! I love General Conference. Something about being on a mission makes me appreciate General Conference a lot more than I did when I was younger. I loved each session. We gathered at the church with other missionaries to watch it together! It was a lot of fun! I'm so sad it's over. 

Sunday: more General Conference! And then after the sessions, we went to members homes and we talked to them about Conference! 

P.s. the title of my email makes me laugh. It's a funny story. My companion was driving and we were at a red light. She was looking at something when the light turned green. As I went tell her the light was green, I said, "The light is BLUE." In my mind I was going to say Green but it came out blue. Weirdest thing ever! 

The one where Elder Wong thought I was short

  I hope you had a great week and that all is going well! This week we had zone conference. Elder Wong (who is an area authority) came and spoke to us about how we can baptise more people. It was amazing and it was super fun! We ended up playing a game of basketball to demonstrate the principle of getting members of the wards and branches to help us teach lessons. 

On Monday, we called a friend that we have been trying to get ahold of for a long time. We ended up putting him on date for baptism!! November 11 was the day he chose because he wanted to get baptized on his birthday! This friend is truly elect and all he wants in life is to change for the better and to have the Spirit with him always. It's the most amazing thing ever! 

The work is advancing here in Andover, Kansas. It's starting to cool down here so it's not as humid. Yesterday was hot but it wasn't humid so it didn't feel like death.

I'm not very good at taking pictures! That's my goal for this week is to make more pictures. We get so busy and I just forget to take pictures. I have a few though. This week we did some service for a local charity and and was super fun! Our district leader and his companion came with us. And then we met the same companionship at the park to discuss some people that we were teaching. Those are the two photos I have. I will be better!!

P.s. the title for the email came at zone conference. Each time a missionary stood up, they had to say their name, where they were from, and a cool fact about them. The elder sitting next to me said that his fun fact was that he was tall. Elder Wong had me get up to prove if this Elder was tall because he thought I was short. As soon as a stood up he said. " You are taller than the average girl!" And everyone laughed. It was funny! 

The One where I became an Admiral

 I'm finally in Kansas!! I am serving in Andover, Kansas. I am in the best zone in the whole mission. DERBY FOR THE WIN!! I got to Kansas on Tuesday night. We were welcomed by President Ernst and Sister Ernst. We went to their home and they fed us dinner. As we walked into the house, soooooo many missionaries were there to welcome us. It was a really fun first night. 

I experienced my first Kansas lighting storm the first night I was here!! Since there are no mountains, I can see all of the different lighting strikes. It's the coolest sight ever. 

We stayed our first night at the Sister Training Leaders apartment. They are literally the nicest people ever. They have made this transition really helpful for me. They call multiple times a week to check up on me and see how I am doing. 

My trainer is Sister Brady. She is from Ceder Hills. She and I graduated the same year! How fun! 

This week has been a week of change. It's been a lotnof adjusting this past week. But I am grateful for the missionaries that I am surrounded by. They truly care about me and my well being. Some of the sisters brought me crumbl cookies!! They are super nice!! I love them!! 

I have a testimony that Heavenly Father listens to our prayers. The answer might not come immediately. But the answer will come. I have discovered something this week. If everything seems to be going wrong around you, find things you are grateful for. That is my invitation you everyone this week. Make a gratitude list! It will help you in so many ways and it will help you see the miracles and the good that is in this world. I started the 100 golden days on my Facebook stories. PS: Reason for title: I am a housing missionary. Meaning that I am in charge of making sure that everyone had the things that need for their apartments. I also call missionaries two times a week for cleaning inspections.

One elder texted us and said that cockroaches invaded his apartment. He said that they declared war on the cockroaches. Later that night, we wanted to check in and see if the situation had changed after we told them what to do and who to call. He called me "Admirmal Ellis" because I asked him "how's the war going? Are you winning?" And I called him soldier. It was really funny.
